An Intruder Alarm System can be separated into three separate
parts that can be distinguished as follows - control equipment,
detection and warning devices.
The control equipment include the main control panel itself
and additional power supplies/circuit expanders (where and if
required) - which include standby batteries should a main failure
occur, also the keypads for setting / unsetting of the system
- incorporating a fob reader if necessary.
The detection devices are the parts of the system which "activate"
the alarm if they are triggered, such as door/window contacts,
vibration sensors, glass-break detectors and movement detectors.
These work by detecting an intruder either prior to entering
the premises (perimeter protection) or once inside (trap protection).
Personal attack alarms utilise wired and wireless personal attack
switches to activate the intruder alarm system and summon help
in an emergency -these devices are dual-button to minimise false
alarms.
The warning devices consist of internal and external sounders/strobes,
sounding and flashing in the event of an activation, including
additional remote signalling devices that communicate the current
condition of the alarm to an Alarm Receiving Centre, indicating
what state the system is in at that particular time, e.g. unset,
set, unconfirmed or confirmed activation etc. Some communicators
can send a pre-recorded telephone or SMS message directly to
up to four specific telephone or mobile numbers of your choice.
Smoke Systems
Additional smoke security systems can be added to the above
to provide, within seconds of activating, a dense harmless white
fog to be released in a specified area or area's to disorientate
intruders to protect your property and minimize losses until
the arrival of either Key-holders and/or Police to the premises.
